In the app
Open You, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account. You will be asked to type your username to confirm. It happens the moment you do — there is no waiting period, no confirmation email, and no way for us to undo it.
If you cannot get into the app
Email [email protected] from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. That address is how we know it is you; a request from anywhere else is somebody trying to delete another person's account, and we will not act on it.
We will confirm within 30 days, and in practice within a few days.
Before you do it: deleting is immediate and permanent. There is no archive, no export, and no way to get a conversation back afterwards. If you only want the messages to stop, pausing your link does that and is reversible.
What is deleted
- Your account, email address, username, display name, profile picture and settings.
- Every conversation you received, with its messages, games and reveal history.
- Your friends and friend requests, in both directions.
- Every device you were signed in on, immediately.
- Any sign-in codes outstanding for your address.
- The copy of all of it held on your own phone.
What is not
- Messages you sent to other people. They stay in the recipient's conversation — you cannot unsend an email either, and an account that could erase what it had written from somebody else's phone would be a way to take back harassment after the fact. The link back to you is destroyed, so after this nobody can learn who wrote them, us included.
- Reports and moderation records. Kept so that a pattern of behaviour across accounts can still be seen.
- Your username, which is retired rather than freed. A link somebody saved will never point at a stranger.
